Item Description: This unique and quintessential Victorian
Post Card is depicting Chapter 5 of Charles Dickens "The Pickwick Papers" first published in 1836-37.
The Text under the image of Mr. Pickwick reads: In Dickens Land: "The horse... drew Mr. Winkle, who was still at the end of the bridle, at a rather quicker rate than fast walking, in the direction from which they had just come. Mr. Pickwick ran to his assistance, but the faster Mr. Pickwick ran forward, the faster the horse ran backward."
The rear of the Post Card is marked across the side: Raphael Tuck & Sons "Oilette" [Regd.] Postcard 0046. Art Publishers to their Majesties The King & Queen. Designed and Printed in England. Across the top is marked: Royal Warrant Seal, Post Card, For Postage, In the United Kingdom Only, This Space may be used for Correspondence, (For Address Only) In the top right hand corner is the Trademark for Raphael Tuck & Sons.
The Card has been printed on beige colored, heavy grade card stock and measures 5.50” tall X 3.50" wide.
Condition: A+ Perfect Condition! The Post Card is blank with no writing on it with no loss of the vivid art work. There are no rips or corner tears.
